Lashes Galor!

I am LOVING MAC 'half lashes' right now!
I've been doing fake lashes forever but sometimes wonder if I look like this pic! My friend Nicole has been wearing 'half lashes' for a couple of years and I finally tried them out the other day.
Half lashes, are just what the name implies, they look like someone cut a strip of fake eyelashes in half except they wing out and are slightly longer towards the outer corner of your eye.
What is so great about them is that they are much more natural looking and feeling. They give just the right amount of sexiness and drama but are subtle enough that you could wear them everyday. And they don't have that same heavy feeling as regular fake lashes.
I find them much easier to put on myself then regular false eyelashes but if you've never done it yourself before, the girls at MAC will apply them for you free of charge!
In conclusion, there's nothing like a long flirty lash to make you feel extra playful! Try them for a little extra bounce in your step on your next girls night out!

Anatomy of a Spray Tan

I love to be tanned, the darker the better. Unfortunately my genetic predisposition (can we say 'ginger'?) doesn't allow me to achieve the results I desire through conventional tanning. And who wants wrinkles and cancer anyways? My solution: the Spray Tan!

Many people have asked my advice about the procedure and so I thought I'd outline the process step by step.

1) Do your research! Ask someone you know (i.e. me) who has been before where they would recommend. I have definitely visited a few places that I would not go back. You want to feel confident going in that you will be happy with the results.
2) People always ask: how many days before my event should I get it done? The biggest mistake I think people make is getting it done too far in advance. Personally I would get it done no more than 2 days before your event. The effects don't last that long if you are showering and working out like normal so waiting 4 or 5 days is pushing it.
3) Before you go make sure you wash and exfoliate your whole body. Dry, dead skin will result in an uneven tan. Don't put on any lotion, deodorant or perfume after your shower as these products may act as a barrier and prevent the product from absorbing into your skin.
4) Wear dark, baggy clothes to your appointment. You don't want to wear anything tight or constricting because it could rub off the tanner before it has a chance to soak in.
5) Yes, someone will see you naked. Trust me, they have seen it all and then some, so get over it! That said, feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in, but keep in mind that the spray solution will get on it. It generally washes out of most fabrics but better be safe than sorry.
6) Don't freak out! At first you will think you look really really dark! Whatever you do, just wait until the next morning before you do anything! At this time, hop in the shower but don't scrub or use harsh soaps. You will see color coming off in the shower, this is normal! I usually wash my face with my regular cleanser because I don't like it as dark, but just rinse the rest of my body.
7) If you want your tan to last, buy a 'tan extender' available at your tanning salon.

So there it is ladies! Happy Tanning!

Ahhhh...this is the life!

Here it is, my best beauty advice for those on a budget: befriend someone in the industry! Today I had a manicure and a pedicure and all it cost me was my gas to get there! For those of you who don't know, my mother is an esthetician and so going to my parents for dinner usually involves benefits beyond laundry service and home cooked meals.

Besides making you all extremely jealous, I'm writing to report what I think will be the new trend in nail color this summer. Everyone remembers how black nails were SO big 2 years ago? ( I still LOVE the look of black nails btw). These last couple of months however, I have been noticing many celebs rocking white nail polish (Natasha Bedingfield is pictured) I decided to try it out today and absolutely loved the results.

Just a word to the wise: Do not try this at home! If you are going to go for this look I think it would be best to get it professionally done. The white really emphasizes the shape and condition of your nails, so a professional file and cuticle care is necessary to achieve a sophisticated look.

If you really want to attempt the look yourself make sure you use a good quality nail polish (try OPI 'Alpine Snow') and make sure it is new. Nail polish that has been under your sink for 3 years won't do the trick as old polish tends to get thick and goopy and will make a smooth, glossy finish difficult to achieve.

Summer Wish List 2009

Well we've had our first couple days of semi decent weather and this small taste of days to come has me dreaming of warm summer days and white linen ( you will notice, I have a thing for linen).

Summer is probably my favorite season as far as fashion goes. Although I am not particularly fond of short shorts or crop tops, I think that summer is the season which really allows one to dress outside the box and ditch the 'uniform' I know I tend to wear during the colder months (i.e. jeans, boots and lots of black) for ultra feminine dresses and skirts.

Here is my Wish List for Summer 2009

1. Marc Jacobs Aviators - every girl needs a pair of aviators, and they definitely don't need to be designer. They give off that "I'm a cool chick" vibe, and if you have a heart shaped face, these are the best frames for you.

2. Gladiator flats- these are still in style this summer. I love gladiators because you can wear them with a dressier outfit but remain comfortable. There is a really cute pair by Michael Kors at Browns that I'm eying.

3. The Maxi Dress- my all time favorite. It's an outfit all in itself! I already bought one really amazing dress by Splendid at Blubird (on Alberni Street) but I think this will be my 'uniform' for summer, so I may need a few more!

4. Floral - Floral is HUGE this season and I am on the hunt for the perfect floral gauzy summer top or dress, probably in peaches or pinks.

5. A six-pack- when I figure out exactly where and how to get this I will let you know!

Star Sightings!

Well I went shopping today in hopes of inspiring a fashion related blog however, while I did purchase a few things, the coolest part about my day was meeting Selena Gomez.

For those of you who don't know Selena Gomez is a Disney channel star, much like Miley Cyrus. I passed her as I was leaving Pacific Center and at first I didn't know what to do. So I turned around and started following her! Like a crazy person! After a few paces I thought, "Erin, you either have to say hi or stop following her, because this is creepy...even for you!"

So I sped up and started walking beside her..that's normal right? She turned to look at me and I smiled my biggest smile and said, ' Hi'.
SG: Hi
Me: Are you Selena Gomez?
SG: Ya
Me: Hi I'm Erin !!!!( extends hand for handshake)
SG: Nice to meet you
Me: Nice to meet you!!!! (Ginning like an idiot) Ummm...I have my camera. Would it be ok if I got a picture?
SG: Of Course
(I fumble and fumble trying to find my camera in the bottomless depths of my bag)
SG: Momma, could you? (asking her mom to take a picture...we pose)
Me: sooo how is filming going?
SG: really really good
Me: Do you like Vancouver
SG: Oh ya, I love Vancouver
Me: Well welcome to our city...have a good day (still grinning like an idiot)

Haha...I am a huge dork. Anyways, Selena was probably the sweetest person you could possibly be to some nutty 20-something approaching you in the mall for a picture. She is also very very little and YOUNG. It's funny when you see these girls in magazines you think of them as being sophisticated, trendy Hollywood starlets, but really she was so normal looking (beautiful, but just normally dressed, not decked out in Louis Vuitton, etc.) Anyways...next on the docket R-Patz...it will happen.

Robert Pattinson

For those of you who don't know already, Robert Pattinson celebrated his birthday last night at Glowbal right here in Vancity! Is it too much for a girl to ask to just accidently run into him? I could be his calm in the middle of the storm *sigh*....Just putting it out there.

Louis the Second

So here it is, the latest addition to my collection: the Speedy 35 Damier Azur Canvas.

Addiction is a word that describes a psychological dependence. Everyone seems to have their own personal addictions, whether it be smoking, sex or chocolate. As for me, purses have always been my vice. And although I love all purses, I especially love expensive purses.

Right now my drug of choice is Louis Vuitton. Even though I have to save for months to buy one, there is something so luxurious and classic about a Louis Vuitton bag that I just can't resist. In the fall I bought my first Louis ( the monogram canvas Neverfull GM), and it is my pride and joy!

For the summer I thought the Damier Azur Canvas would be appropriate. It looks like the kind of bag you would carry while strolling the boardwalk in the South of France, white linen pants fluttering in the warm ocean breeze. Ce n'est pas beau ca? Anyways, this will be my last big purchase for awhile, so I thought I'd document it!

Treating Myself

It's amazing how a good hair day can make you feel like the hottest thing in the room and a bad hair day can leave you absolutely miserable. Perfectionist that I am, these bad hair days hit me particularly hard and completely zap my otherwise sunny disposition.

As a preemptive measure, I have an entire arsenal of hair products taking up shelf space in our already crowded bathroom. My favorite brands are Kerastase and Shu Uemura. They are don't come cheap (products retail between $30 and $50 Canadian) but the are WORTH it!

I also try to treat myself to regular deep conditioning treatments (just went yesterday!) My hair dresser turned me on to Kerastase treatments. There are a few different treatments available but I'm fond of the one which increase the strength of your hair by 50%. This procedure really helps tame fly-aways and restores shine and I notice an obvious difference in the feel and texture of my hair. Any salon which carries the brand should be able to give you more information.

Here's to good hair days for all!

Holla!

Welcome to Patiently Awaiting Fabulousness!

Basically I will be using this page to talk about some of my favorite things: clothing, fashion, shoes, accessories, make-up and hair products. Of course there will be the occasional blurb about celebrity gossip because I just can't help myself.

I can clearly remember the point in my life when fashion became the center of my world. I was 9 years old and had just watched the movie 'Clueless' ( as if, right?). I was in awe. The very next day I dragged my mom to the mall to purchase my own pair of shiny black patent Mary Janes and knee high socks. I've been hooked ever since.

Hopefully you enjoy!
